Burt Reynolds has sold his black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am at auction for $450,000, a pretty penny considering that it was only a promotional vehicle from his hit movie Smokey and the Bandit, not one of the actual cars used in the film.

The car, which has a 400-cubic-inch engine and automatic transmission, had only been expected to fetch $60,000 to $80,000, according to Julien’s Auction, which conducted auction of a wide range of Reynolds memorabilia over the weekend in Las Vegas. Bidding started at $30,000. The auction house says that the car had been given to Reynolds to help promote the movie, which co-starred Sally Field and Jerry Reed.

Apparently, there was a lot of interest in items from Smokey and the Bandit, the 1970s comedy about smuggling beer across state lines. A Smokey and the Banditjacket went for $34,375.

“Burt Reynolds is a legend who is loved all over the world,” said Darren Julien, CEO of Julien’s Auctions in a statement. “His collection which was full of iconic pieces of career memorabilia and personal items once again proves to be a solid investment with bidders who attended the auction from every corner of the globe this week.”

Even a Burt Reynolds license plate cleared $5,937.
