BUC-EE’S OWNER’S SON CHARGED WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

The son of Buc-ee’s co-founder Don Wasek is facing more charges, this time for possession of child pornography, according to online court records.

Third degree felony charges were filed against Don Wasek’s son, Mitchell Wasek, on Feb. 28, according to online court records in Travis County, Texas. The charges stem from an incident on Sept. 26. 2023, the records show.

That same day, Wasek completed a walkthrough, turning himself in at 7:11 p.m. and posting a cash bond. He was released by 7:30 p.m., a spokesperson for the Travis County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to USA TODAY Monday.

A third degree felony in Texas is punishable by 2 to 10 years in prison and possibly a fine of up to $10,000, according to Texas law.  Wasek, 29, was previously indicted on 21 felony counts of invasive visual recording, according to the Travis County District Attorney’s Office. He was indicted in front of a grand jury on May 17, 2024.  An arrest affidavit showed that Wasek took the videos in multiple homes his family owned. He allegedly filmed people in bathrooms “using the toilet, showering, changing clothes, and/or having sex.”
