BUC-EE’S CALLS POLICE ON TERMINATED EMPLOYEE FOR THIS
On March 28, 2023 at approximately 9:30 p.m. an officer was dispatched to Buc-ee’s in reference to an employee stealing from the store. When the officer arrived on scene he spoke with Loss Prevention who advised that they had terminated an employee for theft earlier that day.
They advised that on that date an employee who was working in the deli, stole a piece of Bohemian Garlic beef jerky and had eaten it. They showed security camera footage of the employee turning away from the deli counter and putting what appears to be a small piece of beef jerky into their mouth. Loss Prevention estimated the size of jerky at .035 lbs which places the value of the theft at $1.12.
The officer advised loss prevention that he would make a report for the theft as they needed it for their records but that he would not be taking out a warrant for the terminated employee’s arrest due to the nature of the crime. The officer further advised that if the company wished to press criminal charges on the terminated person, they could take out a criminal summons themselves at the Cumberland County Justice Center.
