BOE STANDS BY DECISION TO EXTEND SCHOOL DAYS

The Cumberland County Board of Education held a very lengthy work session Monday night which did not initially include an agenda item concerning the extended school days issue.  However, it was added to the end of the agenda and discussed by the members along with Candice Wine, a parent who posted a petition for parents to sign asking the board to reverse their decision.  A couple of BOE members said they thought the BOE should stick by the original calendar passed two years ago that put any make up days at the end of the school year.  Since this was a work session the BOE could not vote on anything but did indicate the issue was closed and there simply was no time to change their decision.
