BLOUNT CO STUDENT ARRESTED FOR HAVING ‘KILL LIST’

Graphic1A Union Grove Middle School student was taken into custody Wednesday after officers found a “kill list” at his home that other students had overheard him talking about.

The SRO at Union Grove was notified Wednesday afternoon that some students had overheard a 14-year-old boy talking about the “kill list.”

Two SROs then went to the student’s house, where the list of three victims was found. The boy was taken into custody and charged with three counts of assault.

He is currently being held at the Blount County Juvenile Detention Facility with a detention release hearing scheduled for Thursday afternoon.

Officials say he did not have access to a weapon and had no written plan to carry out any attack.
