BEWARE: STORAGE UNIT THIEVES ARE ON A RAMPAGE

Commercial storage units are being hit hard in the past few days with thieves cutting locks and making away with more that $6,000 in property among three storage units.

 

CROSSVILLE POLICE REPORTS:

On 04-28-2023 city units were called to 1923 West Avenue storage units for a theft report. I arrived to A1 Storage where I spoke with the compliantant  who stated her unit # 4017 had been broken into and several items taken. she explained that the neighboring unit #4018 was also broken into.  items taken were at flat screen tv ($700.00), cedar chest ($350.00), two homemade blankets ($150.00 each), twenty Hallmark snowmen stuffed toys ($40.00 each), precious moments dolls four large ($300.00 each) and forty five small dolls ($45.00 each). The victim stated that she had driven by the unit approximate two week prior where the lock was still on the unit as normal.  No suspects are known at the time of the report.

On 04-28-2023 I was taking a report for a burglary to a storage unit at 1923 West Avenue when I was then advised there was a secondary victim at the location for unit #4018. I then spoke with the owner\tenant of unit second unit . He stated that he had originally rented the unit in September of 2021 he believed. The victim stated dinning room furniture and other items were placed inside and they had not returned to the unit.  The owner stated the items missing were a wooden table top ($2,000.00) and a chair ($300.00). Only parts of the table were taken the base and two extension leaves were left on scene. The lock for the unit was also removed and taken (valued at $10.00).  No suspects are known at the time of the report.

 

On 04-29-2023 at approximately 00:18 hrs, I responded to 32 Burnett Street, storage unit #6 for a theft report. Upon arrival I made contact with the owner who stated that his storage unit had been broken into: He stated that the last time they were at their storage unit was approximately 2 to 2 and 1/2 weeks ago. He stated that when he was last at his storage unit, everything was there and the storage unit still had a lock on it. While observing the unit no signs of forced entry were observed on door, lock or the door frame. He also stated that when he went to unlock the lock on the door, his key would not work and when he pulled down on the lock it opened. Victim stated that they were missing the above listed items coming to a total of approximately $2,460.00. When speaking with the victim his mother  arrived at the scene and advised me that there were missing papers of her deceased husband, her social security. papers and various jewelry and was unable to give me an approximate price of the missing items at this time.  There is no camera footage available at this time.
