BASEBALL CARDS, MOUNTED DEER HEAD, HARDWOOD FLOORING – THIEVES GOING AFTER IT ALL

image2993Thieves are making off with everything but the kitchen sink these days, and it’s probably not safe.  Just in the last few days, reports have been piling up of break-in’s around the county and the stolen property is getting pretty bizarre.  One of the biggest takes includes a baseball and comic book collection worth thousands taken from a home on P.O.W. Camp Road.  Thieves also took  a mounted deer head from that home.  Strangely, the owner tracked down the deer head and the suspect offered to sell it back to the owner.  A violin, audio equipment  and shoes were stolen from a house on Lee Drive – there is a suspect in that case.  On Acorn Lane, burglars made off with a 9mm sawed off rifle, flat screen tv, acoustic guitar, two chainsaws and a weedeater.  Burglars were serious in getting what they wanted at a Leffel Webb Road home.  They broke in and stole the hardwood flooring and fireplace rock along with appliances – that loss was estimated at over $6,000.  Try to always leave some lights on when you’re away from home and even a television on with the sound up to help thwart a would-be thief from breaking in.  A dark house with no car in the drive is just inviting thieves to attempt a break-in. You may want to check into having an alarm installed as well.
