127-yard-sale-flea-market-kentucky-tennessee-shizzle-design-1024x688The World’s Longest Yard Sale is about to begin.  The annual 127 Corridor Sale stretches from Gadsden Alabama to Addsion Michigan and attracts thousands of yard sellers and buyers which officially starts the first Thursday in August (Aug 6th this year).  But as you may have seen, yard sellers are already setting up along the route.  It’s  going to be over 690 miles of stop and go traffic as buyers pull off the highway to check out the bargains.  The whole thing was started in Fentress County and it is the headquarters. Historically,  communities, groups or individuals over a four-day weekend welcome the onslaught of visitors from the North, South East and West. It is a mutual exchange of cultures with a common goal; to look, buy and sell.  But it hasn’t come without complaints.  In Cumberland County, what usually takes a person about five minutes to drive from Homestead to Crossville can become a 30 minute drive or longer depending on the congestion.  And another complaint is that the Yard Sale comes right as school starts in Cumberland County adding even more problems.  No matter whether you like it or hate it though, the World’s Longest Yard Sale is about to commence.  So get you bargain hunting garb on, or start practicing cussin’.
