ATHENS TN MAN CLAIMS HE ACCIDENTALLY KILLED HIS WIFE WITH A TENT POLE, AIMING FOR A SKUNK
A bizarre death has Athens Tennessee investigators puzzled and family members in disbelief.
A man told police he accidentally killed his wife with a tent pole when he was aiming for a skunk.
Athens Police say Adrian Hall was found on the side of the road flagging down help as his wife lay beside him unconscious.
He told first responders he saw a skunk in the tent where the couple lived and tried to hit it with a tent, accidentally striking his wife instead.
Investigators say they found no evidence or odor of a skunk in the area.
The suspect’s family says the wife had a history of medical problems and that is likely the cause of her death.
Adrian Hall has been charged with aggravated assault.
Police say autopsy results will determine how the wife died.
