Officials with the U.S. Marshals said law enforcement agencies tried to capture Floyd Cook during a traffic stop on I-65 at exit 108 in the White House area of Robertson County.

However, they were unsuccessful because Cook and the man he was traveling with, Troy Wayne, crashed their car into another vehicle and through a fence into a field.

Officials said they then fired shots at officers before running away.

Cook has been charged with attempted murder for shooting an Algood police officer Saturday.

Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol have strongly warned residents in the White House area to be alert because both men have been considered dangerous. (Newschannel5)
