A bolt of lightning shot into a house on Pine Ridge Circle in the Big Lick community Wednesday and caused the residence of Frances Hassler to be totally destroyed by flames.  Fortunately no one was at home at the time of the fire, around 1:30pm. Witnesses said a huge bolt of lightning shot straight down into the rear of the house causing an explosion with the house quickly becoming engulfed in flames.  Family members told CNF they were very grateful to Cumberland County Firefighters and Assistant Chief Kilgore for their quick response and efforts.
