WEATHERMAN STEVE NORRIS SEEKS HELP IN GETTING MOBILITY VAN
For almost 40 years Cumberland County residents have asked “what does Steve say?” when it comes to the weather. Steve Norris knew he wanted to be a weatherman as a young high school student. He got his break on a local radio station in the seventies when he called and offered his expertise on weather during stormy times. Since then Steve has been reporting weather in Crossville every day on local radio stations as well as newspaper forecasts. Now Steve is reaching out to the public for help in getting a newer model mobility van. Steve was born with MD, a muscular debilitating disease that has kept him confined to a wheel chair his entire life. But his physical challenges have never even slowed him down on getting the weather information out to listeners. Anytime severe weather hits Steve can be heard on 105.7 The Hog advising very anxious listeners what to expect. Steve also does weather for other radio stations and web sites throughout the U.S. Steve does travel a lot but his specialized wheel chair lift-van is old and just about wore out – not dependable anymore. So he has set up a gofundme account for anyone to donate to his venture of getting a newer model mobility van which costs $20,000. In just four days Steve has raised over four thousand dollars. Steve gets paid for his services as meteorologist for the many media outlets he works for – but he was thrown into deep debt when his father died five years ago and has been working hard to reduce that debt over the past few years and simply doesn’t have the extra money to pay for a newer van. Steve has never let his disability get in the way of working for a living and loves his dream job of reporting the weather. If you would like to donate to Steve’s van fund CLICK HERE.
