NEW: Former Rhea County girls basketball coach indicted on child sex abuse charges

The now former longtime girls basketball coach at Rhea County High School is facing several child sex abuse charges.

A Rhea County grand jury indicted Tracy Kenneth Vest on three counts of sexual battery by an authority figure and one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child.

Court records say the offenses occurred in March 2026 and involved a minor between the ages of 13 and 17. The indictment says Vest was in a position of trust at the time of the alleged conduct.

The sexual battery charges accuse Vest of unlawful sexual contact involving the minor on separate occasions March 13 and March 26.

The fourth charge accuses Vest of engaging in three or more incidents of sexual abuse involving the same child during a period of 90 days or more, according to the indictment.
