CUMBERLAND CO EMBARRASSED BY BOE VOTE TO DISMISS POPULAR DOS BILLY STEPP
Cumberland County parents, teachers and students are shocked by the Board of Education’s decision to not ‘rehire’ Billy Stepp as Director of Schools. The County has been energized to call for a special called meeting for the BOE to reverse its decision.
By most accounts, Stepp has been applauded as one of the best DOS the county has seen in many years. BOE Chairman Chris King stated just before the vote that he was embarrassed by this BOE. The five board members (now dubbed the Famous Five) who voted to not renew Stepp’s contract were
Anita Hale (4th District- 931-456-0263)
Jon Matthews (7th District – 931-287-9376)
Scott VanWinkle (2nd District 931-200-8511)
Elizabeth Stull (1st District 865-234-2284),
Knoxville TV news station WATE-TV aired a special segment today on the publics outrage over the dismissing of DOS Billy Stepp: Watch video below
