KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A new development was released in a case involving an unidentified woman whose body was found in a wooded area in Knoxville in August 2022.

The Knoxville Police Department stated in a news release on Friday that artists with the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) recently completed a facial composite of the victim. DNA samples have also been submitted for forensic genetic genealogy testing.

The woman’s remains were found on Aug. 16, 2022, in a wooded area around E. Fourth Avenue and Third Avenue within the 4th and Gill community.

According to KPD, the woman was around 5’1″ tall and between the ages of 35-55 with blonde hair. At the time of her death, she was wearing a black tank top, black leggings and a black hat with a Carhartt logo.

“KPD detectives and medical examiners with the Regional Forensic Center have ruled out multiple missing persons in the course of their efforts to identify her,” KPD stated.
