CROSSVILLE MAN HOLDS GUN ON DOG IN FRUSTRATION AFTER FAILED ATTEMPT TO GET IT TO BITE HIM – DOG FLEES

On 8/18/2024 a Cumberland County Deputy was dispatched to Chica Ct. for report of a male neighbor on the homeowner’s porch pointing a gun at their dog. Upon arrival, Tansi Police had already detained the suspect identified as Dwight Larson and retrieved the Taurus G2S 9mm Pistol from his person.

The homeowner stated Dwight had been upset following an incident that occurred the day before involving their dogs and had walked onto their property antagonizing their dog trying to make it bite him and when that did not work, he began to yell and point the pistol at the dog’s head, following it around the yard while it attempted to flee. Dwight stated he was upset and wanted to make things right by his wife due to an incident involving their dogs, and also stated to the Deputy he didn’t know what else to do besides handle it.

While transporting Dwight and speaking with him on scene, the Deputy observed a strong smell of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person, along with red watery eyes, slurred speech and trouble balancing.

Dwight was placed into custody, transported to CCSO intake for booking where he was charged with Public Intoxication, and Possession of a handgun while intoxicated. The Taurus pistol was seized for evidence and placed into CCSO evidence.
