SOUTHERN BAPTIST CONVENTION FAILS TO BAN WOMEN PREACHERS

61 percent of the Southern Baptist Convention members voted to ban women pastors Wednesday but that wasn’t enough. The SBC amendment required two thirds, 0r 66 percent, to pass. The motion stated the SBC cooperates only with “churches that do not affirm, appoint, or employ a woman as a pastor of any kind”

Members said the ban on women serving as pastors-or ministers, is based on the bible teaching in First Timothy 2:11 where the Apostle Paul says “ A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.
