“CAROLINA SQUAT” VEHICLES NOW BANNED IN TENNESSEE BY GOVERNOR

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has signed a law banning people from driving “Carolina Squat” modified vehicles on a street, road, or highway. The “Carolina Squat” is a modification that raises the front of the vehicle higher than the back.  Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina have also banned the modification because it makes it difficult for a driver to see over the dashboard and hood of their vehicle.

The law applies to both vehicles permanently modified and those that use a hydraulic system to get in the “Carolina Squat” position, where the height of the vehicle’s front fender is four or more inches greater than the height of the rear fender.

In Tennessee, the “Carolina Squat” is a Class B misdemeanor punishable by a fine of $250 for the first offense.
