The Cumberland County School Board Policy Committee is taking a hard look at the School Dress Code. At issue in particular is leggings; those tight-fitting stretch pants, typically worn by women or girls. School policy dictates that if leggings are worn, the bottom must be covered. School officials have noticed several students who do indeed cover their bottoms with a shirt or sweater but leave the front portion of the leggings exposed. And while the Policy Committee will probably not revise the Dress Code for this school year, students could see some changes next year because a few of their classmates like to push the envelope when it comes to school attire.
