THE END OF AN ERA- THE EDGEWOOD RESTAURANT OWNER PAT TANNER HAS DIED AT 69

The Edgewood Restaurant on West avenue in Crossville, a staple of the community for decades, is now closed.

The Edgewood opened in 1947, and was operated by two different owners until 1980 when Polly Manning bought the place. In 1982 Polly’s daughter, Pat, became part of the team and helped her mom run the business until her mother passed away in 2016. Pat took over the operation to carry on the legacy her mother had built.  It was a rare occasion that Pat did not have the doors unlocked and ready for business by 3:30 am every morning, Monday – Friday, closing at 2pm, and leaving at 3pm. This restaurant was more than a job to her, it was home and all the customers were her family.

Pat has been fighting an illness for several months and passed away Tuesday at 69. Pat often said, if “I close where will you guys go?” Good Question, cause now hundreds of loyal patrons actually don’t know where they can convene not only for a nice meal, but good company and conversation also. Pat, her mother and The Edgewood may be gone – but the great memories of what they worked so hard to bring the community will last forever.  Services for Pat will be announced at a later date.
