ONE ‘HAIL’ OF A STORM MONDAY NIGHT HITS SOME, NOT OTHERS
A severe thunderstorm warning was issued. Storms had been intermittent throughout the day in Middle Tennessee. But in the early evening hours, Cumberland Countian’s began seeing something you just don’t see everyday – Hail, lots of it – from marble size to ‘fine as snow’ began falling from the sky. The storm last night was fierce. dumping lots of rain, lighting up the sky with streaks of lightning and house rattling thunder. But some got nothing. While the western part of the county was being pounded with hail stones, parts of the southern portion never got the first stone, raindrop, nothing. But the most talked about feature of the storm was the vast amount of hail falling. Some had hail the size of marbles, others got what appeared to be ‘snow’ on the ground. Today authorities will be surveying the area for any damage estimates from the hail storm. (Photos courtesy of Rebecca Hawkins, Joan Abbott, Steven Lambart)
