On November 7, 2023 City units were flagged down by employees at Speedway for a suspicious male. One of the officers made contact with the man in the rear parking lot of MDS just behind Speedway matching the description given by staff. The officer knew  the man  to be Casey Hamby from previous encounters and upon questioning, Mr. Hamby admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages that morning. Mr. Hamby was unsteady on his feet, had slurred words, and when questioned as to how many beers he had consumed he attempted to make hand motions indicating how many beverages he had consumed and  Mr. Hamby’s hand motions changed between five and eight.

The officer determined Mr. Hamby to be a danger to himself and others and placed him into custody for public intoxication . Mr. Hamby was later charged with public intoxication once he had arrived to the Cumberland County Justice Center.
