CROSSVILLE WOMAN ARRESTED FOR HIT AND RUN AT ROMO’S RESTAURANT

On October 23, 2023 at approximately 6:00 p.m. city units were dispatch to Romo’s restaurant for a Hit and Run accident. Upon arrival an officer made contact with the victim who stated that her car, a white 2021 Honda HRV, had been backed into while she was inside Romo’s. She further stated that there was a witness inside and that the video had been pulled of the accident.

The officer then went inside and was able to review video footage of a black truck pull into the parking lot. A female wearing a gray t-shirt and blue jeans, got out of the passenger seat of the truck and got into the driver seat of a dark blue jeep with American Flag stickers on each side of the vehicle on the rear windows. The vehicle then backed out of a parking spot and was seen backing into the victim’s vehicle where the right rear end of the Jeep collided with the left rear end of the victim’s vehicle. The Jeep stopped for a brief moment and then drove out of the parking lot towards Main Street. The officer was also able to speak to a witness who stated that she saw a female get into the driver seat of the Jeep and back into the victim’s vehicle and leave the parking lot, but could not give the officer any other descriptors of the female.

The officer knew who the vehicle belonged to due to multiple past encounters with the owner. Officers were able to make contact with the vehicle in the video on Savannah Lane and when they arrived officers observed the Jeep to have damage on the right rear bumper matching the area of damage on the victim’s vehicle.

At a later time, the officer received a call through dispatch from the owner of the vehicle who stated that her friend by the name of Payton but could not tell a last name or date of birth, was driving her vehicle at the time of the crash. She then stated that she would come speak with officers at the Sheriff’s Office. Officers then made contact with the owner of the vehicle and a female identified to be Payton Dickson DOB: 01-04-1999. Both woman were read their Miranda rights and Ms. Dickson admitted that she was the driver of the vehicle at the time of the crash. Ms. Dickson also matched the description of the female in the video reviewed at Romo’s.

Due to Ms. Dickson failing to report the accident and leaving the scene of the accident officers placed her into custody and transported her to intake for booking where she was charged with, Failure to Report an Accident, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
