DRIVER KILLED AFTER HITTING TRACTOR TRAILER ON HIGHWAY 70 W
One person died and two other people were airlifted to area trauma centers after two separate accidents in Cumberland County Wednesday night. According to reports, the driver of a tractor-trailer rig was backing into his driveway located off Highway 70 West near Pleasant Hill at about 8:30 PM, when a vehicle, driven by 52-year-old Steve Livesay struck the rig, wedging beneath the frame. Both Livesay and a 35-year-old female passenger had to be extricated from the wreckage. Livesay died from his injuries while the woman was airlifted by Lifestar to UT Medical Center for treatment of injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer rig was unharmed in the incident.
In another wreck happening almost at the same time sent a woman by LifeStar to Knoxville for treatment of injuries she received in a crash on John Q. Wyatt Road off Genesis. That victim suffered severe leg injuries. She was taken by ambulance to CMC after LifeStar had difficulty in finding a place to land the helicopter.
