CROSSVILLE WOMAN THROWS ROCKS THROUGH CAR WINDOW AT JUSTICE CENTER
On 12/01/2022 city units were dispatched to the Cumberland County Justice Center in reference to a possible vandalism. Prior to officers arrival dispatch informed units that the vehicle with the suspect in it had left the area and was heading towards Lantana Road. Through update officers were able to observe the vehicle in the area of Stanley Street and Storie Avenue at which time they initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the occupants one of them the suspect Ms. Laurie Ostic.
Once both occupants were out of the vehicle an officer who was in the area made contact with a witness. The officer was informed that the witness observed a female screaming and causing a disturbance in the Justice Center parking lot just prior to throwing multiple rocks through the window of a vehicle in the parking lot as well as throwing multiple rocks at the sides of the vehicle. Officers determined occupant Ms. Laurie Ostic to be the suspect and read Ms. Ostic her Miranda Rights at which time she stated she did not want to answer any questions. The officer was then informed that the witness had video of Ms. Ostic screaming in the parking lot keeping her from continuing her daily activities but did not have her on video throwing the rocks. She also advised that she did not want to write a written statement but that she was willing to “think about” showing up in court if she was needed.
Through investigation the officer was able to determine the owner of the damaged vehicle was currently legally married to Ms. Ostic making the truck marital property. Dispatch informed the officer that the owner of the damaged vehicle and Ms. Ostic currently have an Order of Protection with Ms. Ostic as the protected party.
The officer then placed Ms. Ostic in custody and transported her back to the Cumberland County Justice for booking where he applied for and was granted warrants for her arrest for Harassment and Disorderly Conduct. The officer then served the warrants on Ms. Ostic at intake. While speaking to Ms. Ostic at intake she stated that she was not in fear for her life just that she was mad at the owner of the vehicle.
Pictures of the damage were placed in digital evidence at the City of Crossville Police Department.
