The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department has issued the following SCAM ALERT:

SCAM ALERT – Unknown individuals will call and state that they are representatives of Volunteer Electric and your electric bill is past due. They state if you don’t pay the bill your electric will be cut off. They leave an out of state phone number for you to call back so they can advise you where to send the money.

KNOW who you are talking to BEFORE you send money. NEVER wire money to anyone unless you are 100% sure who you are sending the money to.
