SO WHEN ARE ALL THE NEW NATIONAL CHAIN STORES GOING TO OPEN IN CROSSVILLE
This year should prove to be an exciting time for Crossville with several national chain stores planning to open up. Most already know about the massive Buc-ee’s store coming to Crossville and we have a tentative opening date of July 4th for that store. Understand, all these dates are tentative. There are many factors which could change the dates as we have seen in the past. The biggest problem for most new constructions is getting equipment shipped in. Shipping lag time has affected many businesses of late. Another variable has been the pandemic. We’ve talked to some businesses who were planning on opening long before now but got hit by the pandemic in one way or the other creating a slow-down or stalling altogether of developments. One of the hardest hit with shipping delays has been Highway 55 new store on the four-lane just before Lowe’s Home Improvement Store at the entrance of Chuckles. They have everything in place but have been slowed down drastically due to kitchen equipment shipment delays. They are hoping to be open in the month of May. Then there’s 7-Eleven. – 7-Eleven operates, franchises, and licenses 71,100 stores in 17 countries and was founded in 1927 – but it’s a first for Crossville to have a 7-Eleven. The opening date for 7-Eleven is March 3rd. The 7-Eleven is located across the street from Waffle House.
Dunkin Donuts has finished rebuilding the former Long John Silver’s location on Main Street and is scheduled to open the first week of March.
We recently published a story on the speculation of Chick-Fil-A putting a store in Crossville. Since that story was published, we’ve learned a bit more about the greater possibility of getting the Chick-Fil-A. Sources now tell us the property that is likely to be the location for the store has been under contract for several months but has been moved forward due to various factors including COVID. Based on all we have learned the chances of Chick-Fil-A breaking ground on 127 north is much higher. We’re estimating, if all comes together, the deal could be sealed by March or April.

I strongly support the WHATABURGER idea. Put it where the Hardees is, so we can get a good burger AND good service.

When is Crossville going to get a department store? So many things you can’t find here. Crossville is very inconvenient!!

We also need sit down American restaurants, clothing stores for all age groups, men and women girls and boys. Bath and body, another rue 21, just more department stores. There’s nowhere to shop here besides Walmart, Burke’s and factory connection.

WhataBurger would be nice…though it seems there are plenty of burger/chicken places already; seriously it seems burgers, chicken or BBQ is the only option unless you go to an actual sit down restaurant, maybe if it replaced one of those.
What would be even more nice…how about Chipotle, Jersey Mike’s (Subway sucks), and Firehouse is way overpriced for what you get, or even more needed maybe a Publix…with supporting stores like in Cookeville.

When are we going to be getting some industry? Aren’t we tired of the some ole low paying places opening? We have the new road connecting 127 and Sparta hwy.

Curious whatever happened with what was supposed to be a “Restaurant Row”, the bypass road out to the Cumberland Playhouse that was built. Can’t believe all that money was spent just to get people quicker to CCP from 127.

We don’t need more trash food in our community. MORE LOCAL BUSINESS. NO MORE CHAINS. All their profits go outside of our community, making our community poorer, while they make us sick and addicted to their trash. What if local community members learned to start their OWN businesses and provide jobs? But they can’t compete if everybody is flocking to this crap.

We so need a good department store for clothes. There is absolutely nothing here since Goody’s left and as for restaurants, they all serve the same ole meals and that leaves fast food joints. A cheddars etc. Something different would be nice. Our town is growing by leaps and bounds and our choices are minimal. Bring Crossville up to par with Cookeville on choices.

Totally agree that we need Target and Cheddars or Applebees . Not much to choose from if you want to eat after 5:00, locals close too early .

It has been my experience you get what you pay for and that seems to be especially true when it comes to sit down eating. Maybe we should order more than the “blue plate specials”and we could possibly have a better full meal
menu of restaurants. What befuddles me is where all the staffing is going to come from? Almost every store in Crossville has a” we are hiring “sign displayed.

I’d love a clothing store, supposed to go where the Harbor Freight went in, also an Outback restaurant and Publix or HEB food stores.

There are enough fast food restaurants here in crossville. What I think we could use is an aldi’s, home depot, maybe even a publix. A department store would be great. I have outgrown walmart. More companies such as manufacturing.

Before anyone even thinks about building or opening anything, they better worry about the underground water issues seeping up through the cracks in the roads. Obviously people don’t think about the foundation, before they slap up all their crap. Nor do they think about functionality, proper location, or traffic flow issues.

They also need to consider where all the water supply will be coming from, what businesses do better in winter weather, does this county really need another Mexican or Hamburger place. What ages reside here and where, are there children needed more activity, beyond their faces shoved in video games and cell phones. What do the people here enjoy doing, and the transportation a lotted to and from such venues. So much more to even think about, before anyone builds something. Has anyone took a census? Or found out how many people are here, people per cap. Or how about the quality of life people desire in city vs. county. Who is handling all of this for this area?

Plus, they need to weigh out what jobs are suitable for what type of people. What are the skills and level of people here. Do people want to continue their education or will there be on the job training. Or, will they be bringing in more “American” citizens from other areas. Or will they choose to just deliver us more immigrants, pedophiles, and drug abusers?

Oh, and the last thing is;
Where is everyone going to live? There is a housing shortage here.
People may know how to build something, but has anyone thought about the way they plan on it to function? Alittle over 50% of our population here is unemployed, from the ages of 16 to 30 years old. Has anyone addressed why? Is it from lack of public transportation, education, addiction, age, disability, or other????? Things that make you go hmmmm……..

We moved here four years ago from Washington State. There really is nothing here in the way of good sit down restaurants or shopping. We have Walmart and Belks. Not much choice. Would love to see some name brand stores and restaurants come here. It’s really hard to find a good place to eat or shop at. Really miss where we came from.
