For the second time in less than two weeks a child has died from being abused.  We learned yesterday of a 17 month Morgan County child who died June 1st.  After an autopsy it was determined the infant had suffered abuse probably for most of it’s short life.  The mother and her boyfriend have been implicated in reports as allegedly being connected to the abuse. The TBI has been called in to investigate.

Now a similar report comes out of another East Tennessee County.  A Campbell County man has been charged with murder. Officers say 33-year-old Joshua Comer faces first degree murder in the death of his girlfriend’s three year old daughter, Gabriella Orton. Deputies are presently trying to locate Comer. Gabriella’s mother, 29-year-old Amber Leann Rezentes, has been charged with aggravated child neglect. An autopsy revealed the child had current and previous injuries sustained from being abused.  Authorities are still looking for Comer. Anyone who has seen him or knows where he is should not approach him, but should call 911 immediately.

Five other children were removed from the home and are in DCS custody.
