MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WZTV) — A Tennessee husband and former corrections officers has been charged after authorities say his wife was found face down on Interstate 40 with a fractured skull.

Franklin Burleson is charged with aggravated assault. Burleson is a former corrections officer for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, FOX 13 reported.

The violent incident broke out on Interstate 40 on Wednesday night, deputies told FOX 13. When deputies arrived on scene, the victim was lying outside her vehicle, face down and bloody on the interstate. Deputies said the woman was screaming “help me!” as she lie on the pavement. The victim was transported from the scene to a local hospital where doctors determined she had a fractured skull.

Nearby, deputies encountered Burleson who was reported to appear disheveled with blood on his hands. Deputies then visited the couple’s home to do a welfare check but discovered bloody clothes and rags in the laundry room and “evidence of a disturbance” in the kitchen. FULL STORY HERE
