FIVE PEOPLE SHOT, KILLED IN SUMNER COUNTY TENNESSEE

– Sumner County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating after multiple people were killed in Sumner County, according to officials.

Sheriff Sonny Weatherford said multiple people were killed at a home in the 1000 block of Charles Brown Road in Sumner County near Westmoreland.

TBI spokesman Josh DeVine said there could possibly be a sixth victim that was taken to the hospital, but TBI has not confirmed that.

Agents identified Michael Cummins, 25, as a person of interest in the homicides.

TBI says Cummins is now in custody. He was found in a remote area in a creek bed close to the scene. TBI says he was identified by the plane they had in the air.

According to DeVine, Cummins pulled multiple weapons, causing police to shoot him. No officers were hurt.

TBI is now also investigating the officer-involved shooting.
