ELDERLY FENTRESS CO WOMAN MAULED TO DEATH BY SIX DOGS
An 88-year-old Pall Mall woman was mauled to death Tuesday night by a pack of six German Shepherds belonging to a neighbor. WTVF reports that Jill Peterson left her Fentress County home Tuesday night to clear a drainage ditch overflowing from recent heavy rain. That’s when the dogs attacked. Her 85-year-old sister tried to help Peterson but had to retreat when the dogs turned on her as well. The sister managed to call 911, but not before the dogs had reportedly dragged Ms. Peterson down the yard, ripped off all her clothing and tore all her hair out. Peterson died shortly after arriving at Vanderbilt Medical Center. The attack was so vicious that the casket cannot be open. The dogs have since been euthanized. According to WTVF, District Attorney Bryant Dunaway said the owner may face homicide charges. A funeral for Jill Peterson will be held Saturday at 1pm at the Brown Funeral Chapel in Byrdstown, Tennessee.
