Motorists are advised that U.S. 127 is blocked in both directions in the Rinnie area, due to a car versus pedestrian accident in the vicinity of North Cumberland Elementary School. Early reports indicate a Cumberland County sheriff’s deputy directing traffic was struck by a vehicle reportedly driven by an “older man” during school dismissal. The accident occurred approximately 3:15 p.m. Central Time.

An air medical helicopter has been dispatched and is en route to the scene.

At this time, there is no estimate of when the roadway may be reopened.
