54cba46476cf1.imageA Cumberland County woman has pleaded guilty in the June 2014 murder of her former boyfriend.

Investigators said Stephanie Cole, 36, admitted to fatally shooting Louis (Louie) Tammaro II. He was found dead at her home on Ackia Drive.

Cole apologized to Tammaro’s family and her community during Wednesday’s hearing. She said she’s taking full responsibility for her actions.

Her attorney said they hired a mental health professional to evaluate Cole, but they could not prove any mental health defect.

A friend of Tammaro’s family gave an emotional impact statement, saying the family lost a brother, a best friend and a son. They encouraged everyone to live large and leave a footprint on this world like Tammaro did.

TBI special agent Dan Friel testified during the hearing that Cole confessed to several people on the scene that she shot Tammaro,

Friel said Cole took her neighbor’s gun and used it to shoot Tammaro in the head. He testified that authorities found Tammaro’s body in a utility tote bag.

Investigators found a bloody pillow at the scene and gloves that had Cole’s DNA on the inside and Tammaro’s DNA on the outside.

The couple had lived together for several years but authorities said Tammaro had recently moved out before the incident.

The judge accepted her plea on Wednesday and sentenced her to life in prison. WBIR-TV
