The body discovered in the burned outbuilding on Edwards Lane in Cookeville on Sunday, February 7, 2016, has been identified as 24 year old Christopher Joseph Patton.    A positive identification was confirmed through dental records provided to the medical examiner’s office in Nashville.  The final report of the autopsy is pending, but preliminary results did not reveal any signs of trauma to the body prior to the fire.  Major Terry Hembree confirmed that investigators with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department received information that Mr. Patton was acquainted with the residents where the outbuilding was located.  Investigators also received information that Mr. Patton had been at that residence on Edwards Lane the night before the fire.  The investigation is continuing as a death investigation.  Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact Detective Roger Cooper at the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department.  WHUB
