800 ACRES BURNED IN CRAB ORCHARD FRIDAY BELIEVED TO BE INTENTIONAL

9011778_600x338A brush fire that charred 800 acres of land in Cumberland County has been contained.

The fire started late Friday night at an old industrial site in Crab Orchard, said Jim Dale, the U.S. Forestry spokesperson for the Cookeville district.

Crews used a “backfire technique,” where another fire is started to control the original blaze. Officials say the fire didn’t threaten any buildings and is now fully contained.

Investigators believe the fire was set intentionally.
