48 CARS DETAINED, 3 ARRESTS AND 37 CITATIONS DURING CROSSVILLE DUI CHECKPOINTS FRIDAY

PRESS RELEASE:  CROSSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT

 

On Friday July 31, 2015, in cooperation with the Governor’s Highway Safety Office (GHSO), a multi-jurisdictional DUI Enforcement checkpoint event was held in the Crossville, TN area. Fifteen agencies and 58 Police Officers and Sheriff’s Deputies gathered in Crossville for our largest DUI Enforcement effort to date.

 

Participating agencies included: Crossville PD, Cumberland County SO, Rhea County SO, Fentress County SO, Jamestown PD, Baxter PD, Charleston PD, Soddy Daisy PD, Calhoun PD, Dayton PD, Spring City PD, Spencer PD, Cookeville PD, and Putnam County SO. GHSO Law Enforcement Liaison, Cumberland Region, Fred Sherrill coordinated the agencies to conduct the checkpoints which checked an astounding 1,449 vehicles.  As a result, there were 48 vehicles detained for further inquiry, 3 persons arrested and 37 traffic citations issued with 1 additional warning. 

 With countless lives lost and affected by drunk driving and drunk driving related crashes every year, the efforts of these agencies and officers will help ensure safer road travels for everyone in the state.
