4.0 EARTHQUAKE SHAKES MISSOURI, FELT ALL THE WAY TO MID-TENNESSEE

shamseddin20130416112848830-1A 4.0 magnitude earthquake rattled Missouri on Wednesday night, and it was felt all the way in the Midstate.

The earthquake hit at 10:51 p.m. and was centered near Steele, MO.

According to KFVS, the Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Office said there have been no reports of damage or injuries in the area.

The Associated Press reports that southeast Missouri is part of the New Madrid Fault, where significant earthquakes in 1811 and 1812 were so strong they could be felt in New England.

Tennessee residents in  Decaturville, Lawrenceburg, Dickson, and Lewisburg reported feeling the quake.
