Livingston police have arrested a man accused of aggravated arson Tuesday morning in Overton County.

On September 19, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation special agents, Department of Commerce and insurance fire investigators began investigating three residential fires that appeared to be intentionally set.

The first fire occurred at a home on Upper Hilham Road and was investigated by the Overton County Sheriff’s Office.

Witnesses told deputies that an unidentified man was observed throwing something inside the home, which started the fire.

Later that night, officers and firefighters responded to two other house fires on Oak Street and Hilham Highway.

Calvin Booher was developed as a suspect during the investigation.

He is charged with one count of aggravated arson in connection to the fire at the home on Upper Hilham Road, according to the 13th Judicial District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway.

At least six to eight people were inside the Upper Hilham Road home, which belongs to retired Cookeville Circuit Judge John Turnbull, at the time of the fire.

No one was hurt in any of the house fires.

Booher appeared in court Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. where he pleaded not guilty and asked for a court appointed attorney.

The 38-year-old was booked into the Overton County jail and is being held on a $750,000 bond.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.

Booher is expected to appear in court on October 20.
