The Tennessee Highway Patrol was called to a wreck Saturday morning at 3:29am at the Peavine Road exit off I-40.

According to the THP preliminary report, 20-year-old Jared Kirkland of Crossville was exiting I-40 East bound at the 322 mile exit when his 2020 Chevy Silverado went off the road and over corrected.

The pickup rolled over and struck a tree then struck an unoccupied vehicle. Mr. Kirkland was pronounced deceased.

JARED AUSTIN KIRKLAND age 20 of Crossville, TN passed away January 7, 2023. He was born September 4, 2002, in Crossville, TN the son of Matt Kirkland and Renee Sartin. Jared was a carpenter and loved by all who were blessed to have known him.

He is survived by his parents- Matt Kirkland and Renee Sartin of Crossville, TN, brother- Jace Kirkland and sister- Mikayla Kirkland both of Crossville, TN, paternal grandparent Dennis and Charlene Kirkland of Crossville, TN, maternal grandparents- Greg Sartin of Crossville, TN and Shari Sartin of Chillicothe, IL and special niece- Lainey Gunter.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday January 10, 2023, at 1:30pm at Haley’s Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday from 11am-1pm prior to the graveside at Hood Funeral Home.
