A 13 year old was sent to the hospital Thursday morning after stealing and wrecking his or her mother’s van.

A Knoxville police officer came up on the wreck on the ramp to Hill Avenue from James White Parkway.

The teen hit a concrete wall with the Ford Econoline van.

The 13 year old was the only person in the van. Police say the teen took it as mom was sleeping without her permission.

The teen was transported to UT Medical Center, but police say injuries weren’t severe.

No word yet on whether charges will be filed. The investigation’s ongoing.
