+1 DEGREE ABOVE ZERO, MAJOR POWER OUTAGE IN CUMBERLAND CO
After bedding down for the night Saturday night, more than 10,000 Cumberland County families were sprung awake at 3am with no electricity. And it was 2 degrees above zero outside. Two electric sub stations, one at Lantana and one in Crab Orchard had gone down. After an hour the number had been reduced to 7,906 and has remained at that number until now (5:09am) The two areas affected were Vandever-Tansi and Crab Orchard, Fairfield Glade-Ozone. Facebook posts were piling up with people saying what happened to the power. It’s believed the load on the two sub stations was just too much to handle.
At 1 degree above zero hundreds of homes were taxing the electricity to the max. TVA had already stated they saw the biggest load on the system two nights earlier. Many customers voiced concerns about heat in the house. Especially those who heated exclusively with electricity.
