While patrolling in Fairfield Glade, Cumberland County deputies observed 35-year-old Linda Gail Underwood, a passenger in a vehicle, not wearing a safety belt.

Conducting a traffic stop, deputies asked the occupants whether they had anything illegal. They said Underwood appeared nervous and kept her hands near her crotch. A K-9 unit arrived to conduct a sniff search of the exterior of the vehicle and alerted for drugs. A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up drug paraphernalia with residue.

En route to the Cumberland County jail, deputies asked Underwood multiple times whether she had anything on her. She repeatedly denied having anything.

A strip search revealed two small bags of marijuana in a body cavity of the woman.

Underwood was charged with introduction of contraband into a penal institution and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. She was placed under $6,000 bond, with a court date of March 11.
