SEVERE WEATHER ‘ROCKED’ CUMBERLAND COUNTY LAST NIGHT – LITERALLY
“It sounded like large rocks were being dumped on our roof”. This from on resident of Cumberland County last night as severe storms roared though Middle Tennessee. Over 5,000 VEC customers lost power during the storms, some still without electricity this morning. Alarms started sounding everywhere when a ‘tornado warning’ was dispatched at 8:22pm. A ‘warning’ means a tornado has been spotted, either on the ground or on radar. Trees fell, power lines came down and over tw0-inch size hail began pelting homes and vehicles. We haven’t received any word of injuries during the storm at this hour. But a lot of damage throughout the county from high winds and hail. We’ve added some pictures that have been posted this morning on Facebook from Cumberland County residents showing just a fraction of the storm damage and size of hail stones.
