Pioneer Community Hospital of Scott County will close July 1, according to Jim Reed, the director of Scott County emergency medical services. At first, the hospital was scheduled to close Sunday.

Reed said he received the notification on Wednesday.

The next closest hospitals are about an hour away in LaFollette and Jamestown.

The parent company of the hospital filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
