MODERATE DROUGHT OCCURRING IN LARGE PART OF EAST TENNESSEE
On a morning when many Knoxville residents saw their first rain in weeks, most of East Tennessee is now listed as being in a moderate drought.
We’ve been expecting this as the dry weather continues.
Approximately 75% of Tennessee was covered in abnormally dry conditions last week (released September 17, 2019).
This week’s drought monitor shows that 98% of Tennessee is covered in abnormally dry conditions and 60% is covered in moderate drought conditions. In the map below, you can see the areas in bright yellow that are listed as being abnormally dry, which includes parts of Knox and Blount County. Most of the rest of the area is listed as being in a moderate drought. FULL STORY HERE
