CREATOR OF ‘TREEHOUSE’ SAYS BURNING IS TRAGIC COINCIDENCE

Sadly, CNF informed the builder of the world famous “Treehouse” in Crossville that his creation had burned to the ground tonight. Burgess simply said it was a tragic coincidence that it had burned since he only sold it less than three weeks ago.   It took Horace Burgess 12 years to complete the towering treehouse on Beehive lane and it has been viewed by thousands over the years.  Burgess recently sold the property which included the treehouse after the State told him to stop visitors coming to see the treehouse several years ago due to not meeting state safety regulations even though there are no official state regulations for treehouses.

We contacted Burgess tonight by phone which was the first he had heard about the burning of the treehouse.  To say the least he was surprised.  Burgess told CNF that he had ‘let go’ of the treehouse when he sold it and was more concerned there was no other damage to nearby property.
