Thieves are running rampant stealing from local mailboxes which is a Federal offense.   At least 16 residences were hit in Fairfield Glade.  Thieves are stealing whatever they can get from the boxes, checks, Christmas cards (which sometimes contain money), even Netflix DVD’s being returned.  Authorities do have a description of suspicious vehicles in the area.  One is a dark, late model vehicle with two occupants and another was described as a gray Hyundai Sonata with two females.  During the Christmas season thieves sometimes begin targeting mailboxes in hopes of stealing Christmas gifts of money being sent to loved ones.  Of course cash should never be sent by mail and other valuable gifts can be sent using one of the U.S. Mail’s mailboxes in the area or directly from the Post Office.
