WOMAN DRIVES MORE THAN EIGHT MILES WRONG WAY ON I-40 IN CROSSVILLE

A Deerlodge woman was arrested in the early morning hours Wednesday when I-40 westbound travelers began calling 911 to report a car driving the wrong way.  30-year-old Vanessa Nicole Tippie was stopped by City Police at the westbound 317 exit ramp.   It’s unknown just how far Tippie had been driving in the wrong lane but calls came in as she passed the 309 mile marker of I-40.  Police said it was very fortunate that the woman didn’t crash head-on into another vehicle.  At least five calls came in to 911 reporting the wrong-way vehicle – one caller said he swerved drastically to avoid a head-on collision.   Tippie was charged with five counts of  reckless endangerment and driving on a suspended license.
