WHY IS CROSSVILLE POLICE CHIEF RUNNING FOR FENTRESS COUNTY SHERIFF?

Many in the Crossville area may have heard the radio ads on 105.7 The Hog with Crossville City Police Chief asking for votes in the upcoming “Fentress County” Sheriff’s Election.  CNF has received questions from our readers as to why Chief Dave Beaty is wanting to be the Fentress County Sheriff.  We talked with Chief Beaty and found out it has been a long time in the making – or at least in the thinking.  Beaty told CNF he has been planning on making a run for the Fentress county Sheriff’s position since 2012.  Why?  Because that’s where his family roots are.  The Chief told us that he has planned since 2012 that once he reached retirement age of 55 with the CPD he wanted to move to Fentress County and run for Sheriff.  Things didn’t go quite as planned though.  In 2015 Beaty took an early retirement buy-out offer from the City of Crossville.  Beaty then moved to Fentress County and set up residency.  Plans changed in 2016, Beaty was offered the job of Crossville Chief of Police again after the resignation of Rod Shoap.  Now that Beaty is finally 55-years-old, he wants to try and fulfill his long-time aspirations of serving as Fentress County Sheriff while residing on the family farm.  And if he doesn’t win the Fentress County Sheriff’s race?   Well, the Chief says he’d like to stay on as Chief of Police in Crossville if the City’s wishes.  Incidentally if you’re wondering why Beaty is advertising on 105.7 The Hog which is based in Crossville, it is because the radio station has a large listening audience in Fentress County.
