UPDATE: CHILD FOUND DEAD IN CAR AT FOOD CITY IN KNOXVILLE

It was breaking news for all news outlets last Friday afternoon when a young child was found dead inside a parked car a Food City on Clinton highway.  The only information released at the time was that – child found dead.  It’s been four days and still, Knoxville Police hasn’t released any more information.

We spoke to KPD spokesperson Scott Erland this afternoon and asked why nothing else has been released.  Typically, there are news conferences and special releases for days following incidents much more complex  – but not this one.  Erland told CNF that the investigators were simply ‘not comfortable’ releasing information surrounding the case yet. Much speculation has grown out of the tragic situation such as ‘did the parents leave their child in a hot car’?  How old was the child (most say the child was under 6-years-old).  The gender of the child hasn’t been released.

We have been watching other news outlets and not have not seen anything at all reported since Friday.  Mr. Erland did say the KPD would release all information as soon as the investigation is wrapped up, but would not speculate when that would be.
